Early Mornings

This morning made the third morning in a row that LR has woken up at 4:50am. Last night we even tried to put him to bed late (suffering a meltdown in the process) and put up dark sheets over the window blinds. No luck. I heard him at 4:50 again, but let him talk to himself until 5:20. Then Daddy got up and tended to him.

We've had a beautiful couple of days, so Gigi has tried to take advantage of it by taking LR on long walks. Yesterday he slept from 9:30am to 1:30pm. It was so unusual for him that she kept checking on him to make sure he was still breathing. Not sure if it was because he's been missing some sleep or because he's hitting a growth spurt. He's more than made up for his lack of appetite during the cold. He's ravenous at every meal and because he insists on feeding himself now, meal durations have more than doubled. He's eating yogurt and cottage cheese for breakfast, fruit and cereal for lunch, and assortments of finger foods for dinner.

He's also increased his activity level during the day. He's exploring the house and testing the boundaries. I'll have to hide the magazine box since I've already fished paper out of his mouth twice. I need to keep the coffee table clean of anything. The kitchen cabinets need baby locks on them and the bathroom and bedroom doors stay shut now. Oh, and every time we accidentally leave the gate open, he heads straight for it. It's like a sixth sense. He could be on the other side of the house, but when that gate opens, he knows it.
