"No Like Gate"

New bedtime strategy! After 3 nights in a row of 10 o'clock bedtimes, I went out on Wednesday and bought a gate for LR's bedroom doorway. I hate the idea of locking his door, but warmed up to the idea of putting a gate up in the doorway and treating his room like a giant crib.

The first night he went back and forth to the gate and opened and closed his door a bunch of times. Each time he returned to the bed where was since there wasn't anywhere else to go. He didn't seem upset by it, just curious. The last time he returned to bed we had a little conversation about the gate.

LR: Open door?
Me: You can open the door if you want.
LR: Open gate?
Me: No, it's bedtime.
LR: Open Hudson's gate?
Me: No, it's bedtime.
LR (under his breath): No like gate.

A snowsuit arrived from grandparents B&W. They've been scouting the Carter's outlet in Denver for weeks, waiting for the winter gear to arrive and finally it did. I opened the box while LR was playing in my car. He wanted to put the hat on right away and admired himself in the visor mirror. He didn't seem to mind the mittens still attached to the top. Thanks, folks!
